Team Format

Teams of 4 can be coed, all male, or all female; in addition to solo teams. All racers must be 18 or older on race day to compete in the Adventure24 Adventure Race. Four person teams are made of four racers, where three race at one time and the fourth member does support. Four person teams switch racers in and out at TA's using the supporting 4th member as a sub. The four person coed teams are the elite division for this race.

Why did we choose to format four person teams this way? Well, the first thought was, why not? It's something that isn't done often so we thought it might spice things up a bit. Perhaps the best reason though, is that this allows racers to bring their mountain biking friends, running friends, or kayaking friends along with them for a race. You can allow your friends to race but only in the disciplines they feel comfortable at. Perhaps this will show them how much fun adventure racing is and will draw more people into the sport. This team format is perfect for those wanting to try their first 24hr race!

Prizes

Cash prizes are awarded to teams racing in the elite division (coed teams of 4) ONLY. As the number of teams that register increases, the cash purse also increases. At a minimum the cash purse will be $1,000. To be eligible for the cash prizes you must race coed for two legs. This means that you must race on the course with a COED team for at least two legs of the race. You are NOT eligible for cash prizes if you 1) Have a same sex team that races on the course, but the support crew is of the opposite sex. 2) If you race as a coed team on the race course, but for only one leg. You must race coed for at least two legs. Team status (coed, male, female) will be checked at different times on each leg to be sure of who is eligible for the various prizes.

The top team in the all male and all female and solos (at least 3 registered teams to form division) divisions will receive sponsor prizes. Depending on sponsorship, we may go deeper with the prizes in the all male and all female categories.

Charitable Givings

A portion of the race proceeds will benefit non-profit organizations. If you have an idea for an organization, please let us know.
